Create Your Own Bourgogne and Bordeaux Tasting at Home

I will forever espouse the virtues of virtual wine tastings, but I’ll admit we all need a screen break. Thankfully at-home wine tastings don’t have to be virtual—you just need printable resources, delicious wines, and perhaps a cheese board. (Actually, the last one is non-negotiable.) Below you’ll find handouts that guide you through tasting and teach you about two of my favorite French wine regions: Bourgogne and Bordeaux. I created these printable documents for wine tastings with friends and colleagues across the summer.

Here’s what you’ll need for your Bourgogne and Bordeaux tasting:

  1. Buy at least one wine from Bourgogne and one from Bordeaux. You can find a few suggestions sprinkled in here and here, and you’re always welcome to contact me for help at megan.e.herring @ gmail.com.

  2. Download and print 5 S’s of Wine Tasting to guide your experience.

  3. Download and print Bourgogne and Bordeaux overview to learn quick facts about these major French wine regions.

  4. Check out the photos below for inspo! My friends and I did this tasting on our trip to Deep Creek Lake.
